Glasgow, Scotland-based German Doner Kebab has signed a three-year partnership with the UK's Wireless Festival, a hip hop, grime and R&B event featuring artists from the UK and the USA, according to a company press release.
The collaboration kicked off last month at London's Crystal Palace Park with more than 40,000 fans, where German Doner Kebab built a 40-foot container restaurant. It weighed 10 tons, took five weeks to build and featured a full-service kitchen with five grillers as well as a VIP roof terrace and six self-service order kiosks.
German Doner Kebab also created an exclusive Wireless Boss Box, a meal for one featuring the Original German Doner Kebab, Doner Spring Rolls, fries and a drink. Each box contained a QR code leading 89,000 customers to a gamification page where they could win prizes. The chain hosted the container within the brand zone in the festival, providing a high-visibility platform to engage with music fans, featuring food, drinks and GDK's very own festival fashion "Drip Awards" presented by "Love Island" star Josh Denzel, Daniel Bunce, managing director of German Doner Kebab UK and Europe, said in the press release.
"As one of the country's fastest-growing food brands that has revolutionized the kebab across the globe, we see great synergies with Wireless and so it proved as we launched our brand partnership at the festival in September," he said. "This has been a major strategic collaboration for us and the festival at Crystal Palace gave us a stand-out platform to engage with festival-goers."
GDK, which opened in 1989 in Berlin, plans to open 47 restaurants in the UK during 2021.
